Player – [Veltzeh]

Name – Chese Fenpollen

Race – Human

Sub-race – Rysallean

Class – Scoundrel

Age – 26

Appearance – Chese is 171 cm tall, weighs 59 kg and has over shoulder-length dark green hair and bright green eyes. She has a noticeably small nose but otherwise long and commanding facial features. Like a typical Rysallean, she is rather slender, but there is a particular non-typical strength in her build as well. Her behind is also quite large, unproportionately so from certain perspective. Chese mostly wears practical clothing: a tunic-like doublet over some breeches and heavy-looking boots that still do not impair her sneaking ability.

Personality – Chese has never been all that good at hunting and using bows and has, for the most part, gotten along by sweet-talking and making promises of work that have mostly then been fulfilled. However, when hunger settles in, Chese is quite determined to lie quietly in ambush, waiting for a prey to come close enough so that it can be felled with melee weapons. Though Chese most often relies on other people (specifically Mireille in the more recent times) to provide her with food, she at least likes to think that she could get by on her own, even if not particularly well. Of course, in an actual town, she could easily work like any other person, though she would undoubtedly eventually need a change of scenery, which traveling in the ever-changing forest has imprinted on her mind.
For a Rysallean, Chese has always been rather talkative and has often been told to shut up. Despite being somewhat of a sweet-talker, Chese isn't very flirty unless the situation really calls for it and doesn't respond very well to flirting attempts; when it comes to sex, sexuality and romance, Chese prefers to be very straightforward and personal about it. The straightforwardness extends elsewhere as well, though that is because Chese practiced talking by speaking to non-responsive plants and animals.
Chese is in an intimate relationship with RoL - Mireille Goldthorn. At the moment she feels as if she could spend the rest of her life with the other woman and tries to keep her away from harm. Chese thinks that Mireille is smart enough to handle herself and doesn't want to control her in every way. Chese thinks that she wouldn't become suspicious or jealous of Mireille even if the other woman kept secrets, and even if she did, she wouldn't try to argue her way into it. Chese also isn't so blindly in love that she would value Mireille's life more than her own. However, Mireille recently parted ways with Chese because she wanted to go back to the forest while Chese didn't. They didn't end their relationship and just assumed that they would get together when they met again.
Even though Chese's kind of work is often more psychological, she still behaves much as though nature was guiding her, though as a human being she feels a certain compassion for those less fortunate. She takes what she can and tries to maximize her own benefit, but without hurting others more than she has to. When she feels that a person has too much, she feels no need at all to not try to take as much away as she can.
Like the rest of the people in her community, Chese was raised to worship Seianna, but she isn't particularly religious.

History – Though Chese has been talking people's ears off since the age of nine months, she did eventually learn when to shut up, and has since learned to be much better at using words, gestures and silence for her own benefit. Since others were not always so keen on listening, Chese chose to talk to plants and animals and found them excellent listeners. Unfortunately they couldn't talk back. Chese's adolescence came and went without too much trouble, though about all other teens, including Chese's close friend Mireille Goldthorn, had heard some confessions of love from her. Afterwards Chese started understanding just how undefined and mysterious love could really be. Strangely enough, Chese really isn't flirty at all.
At the age of 19, she fancied a certain boy more and they dated, after a fashion, but they didn't really know whether to take their relationship as far as having children and living together. After a few years, their fancies faded and they decided to not be called a couple anymore. Then Mireille saw her chance and thus she and Chese formed a new pair.
It wasn't that rare for a hunter to die at the claws and teeth of the more defensive preys, so Chese was not particularly alien to death. However, when some hunting beast killed Chese's father while he was just taking a walk in the forest, Chese was rather shocked. There seemed to be something off as well, since the body hadn't even been eaten. Of course, Chese would have grieved just as much if the death had been the epitome of natural. Another victim was found only a week later, and soon enough a third, the one who had been Chese's first fancy. None of them had been eaten and seemed to have been killed just for the heck of it. Chese was quite grievous and demanded that the others would hunt down and kill the beast that was doing this, but they didn't want to, they rather moved on to the next place since it was about that time anyway.
First they thought they had gotten rid of the weird killing animal, but soon enough yet another victim turned up. Even this wasn't enough to begin the hunt for the beast, but once the fifth one, the very strong and capable older sister of Chese, was found gutted, the others too started thinking that maybe something would need to be done. They sent two killer parties to look for the animal, and after a couple of days of tracking, one of them managed to find the beast and kill it, though at the cost of three more lives. A practicing adept found out that there was something oddly magical about the beast, but couldn't tell more exactly what it was, so they let the issue go; maybe it had ran across some old magic that made it go murderous. Chese knew that she shouldn't have been so sad about the lost lives, but something seriously bothered her and she was quite disappointed with the other members of their small community. She didn't really feel like staying in a place where people only cared about dangerous animals when it was too late, and thus left. Mireille came along.
Chese and Mireille traveled south toward Decima. Near the edges of the forest, they ran across two traveling dah'kin and spent a day with them, since it was the first time Chese and Mireille had seen any dah'kin and they didn't seem to be the epitomes of evil though some aspects certainly were there. They parted either way.
They headed to Decima because Chese thought maybe city life would be safe and nicely different – and ended up thoroughly disappointed in the slummish misery after seeing it and failing at trying to get the residents of the slums to leave and make themselves a proper town elsewhere. The city guards chased Chese, who by now just wanted to get out of the city. That was when she met Virgil Argentus, an ex-guard who then helped her and Mireille out of Decima. Having left, Chese wanted mostly to forget it even existed, but figured that maybe most of those people really were lazy and happy enough with their slum lives to not bother making a new town. She certainly didn't understand them, but thought that if they wanted a life like that, they could have it.
Another issue Chese thought about was the large and noticeable difference between materially poor and wealthy people and decided that it would be quite appropriate to lighten some nobles of their massive wealths in a seemingly legitimate manner. Therefore, (even though Mireille really wanted to return to the forest and did so) Chese decided to start doing jobs for anyone who could pay well and try to get as much money as possible out of it. She of course wanted to keep something to herself (mostly exactly what she wanted) but thought that whatever extra they would gain, she would give to people who were totally downtrodden in a gutter and couldn't get out without help, but only if they wanted to be proper and conscientious people and not just beggars and other low-lifes whose only purpose was to cause some kind of misery to others.

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: Wanna start doing Rule aspect while you and Koneko plot? :3

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: Sure.

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: ok, since you're a Rysallean you get a +1 to Dexterity or Magic and -1 to Strength or Constitution.

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: Dex and Con.

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: I think I got my skills:
Charm
Thievery
Swift
Disable 3

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: Ok :3, now you have six points to assign as you please, (but a stat cannot go over 7)

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: And ok, those skills work :3

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: Six points to stats too? :o

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: Also, cloaking.

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: Yup, six points to stats :3

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: Ohu, also, need you to define Chese's weapon of choice.

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: 2 Cha, 2 Con, 1 Str, 1 Int

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: Ok, only need the weapon on choice and we're all set :D

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: Uhh, recommend me a melee weapon. :P

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: Hahha, it doesnt have to be a specific weapon, can be a weapon type. For a scoundrel I think swords (to wield daggers and stuff), exotic weapons or bows could be good.

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: Exotic weapons then I guess.

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: Aye aye

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: ohu, and totally forgot, you get to pick one more stat for specialization. So far you have Intelligence and Charisma.

2010-04-20 [Duredhel]: Ack! totally forgot about claws, those could also be cool, unless yer ok with exotic weapons :3

2010-04-20 [Veltzeh]: Str.

2010-04-22 [Lepellier]: I like it. Virgil gets to be a sort of convict from Decima.

2010-05-06 [Veltzeh]: Can an iron fan be used to fanning purposes like a regular fan? Or is it too heavy for that? X) Then again, if it couldn't, why would it be called a fan...

2010-05-06 [Duredhel]: Yeah it can be used as that :3. In fact, it is made to look like a regular fan, so it can be used as a hidden weapon.

2010-05-29 [Veltzeh]: Is Disable a strength or dexterity based skill? In the list it mentions both...

2010-05-29 [Duredhel]: Uhhm.. I'm torn between two possiblities.

One - Melee disable is Str, Ranged disable is Dex.
Two - Ranged disable is always Dex, but with Melee disable you can pick Str or Dex.

Which do you think would be better?

2010-05-29 [Veltzeh]: Option two! :P

2010-05-29 [Duredhel]: Ok XD. Well it makes sense, you can do a localized, precise strike (Dex) or just bash them hard enough to disable them (Str) XD

2010-05-29 [Veltzeh]: Yep.

2010-06-01 [Duredhel]: Ohu O,o, didn't know you could do that table thing.
Could be useful for the other players too :P

2010-06-01 [Veltzeh]: Glad to help. ;) I can do it for the other character pages too, after I'm done watching a movie.

2010-06-01 [Duredhel]: Sure :3 thanks.

2010-06-01 [Veltzeh]: Done! Also, in case you don't notice it right away, I put two spaces in some skills. Two spaces create a non-breaking space (on Elftown), so that the words can't be separated to different lines, and I thought the skills looked better if their names were on the same row.

Non-breaking space illustrated:
Space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space.

2010-10-09 [Veltzeh]: Wait, Chese got a level some time ago! Is leveling up going to happen while they sleep?

2010-10-09 [Duredhel]: Leveling already happened, you have a stat point to assign, as well as a Skill Point :3

2010-10-09 [Veltzeh]: STR and I'll save that skill point so I can get lvl 5 disable next level.

2010-10-16 [Roma]: Detect Lies (Cha or Int) - Figure out if someone is lying to you.

2010-10-16 [Veltzeh]: Sudden comment spam! :3

2010-10-16 [Roma]: XD Hope no one minds. Thought it would help everyone with things, since I don't think I'm the only one who is a total n00b.

2010-10-16 [Veltzeh]: Sure. Of course, I've looked at these skill lists for about six years now... ;D Though I'd already forgotten that now we can choose from two abilities for some skills, so that is a useful reminder.

2011-05-21 [Veltzeh]: Does anyone remember why Chese has that exhorian piece with her? >_> Was she planning on making something out of it, and if so, what was it?

2011-05-21 [Roma]: You can make stuff from it. Armor and whatnot. Chitin is valuable!

2011-05-21 [Duredhel]: Most stores don't stock rare resources (means you usually can only get Wood, Leather, Bronze, Iron and Steel somewhere) so if you want stuff made out of rare materials, you need to go out and look for it :>

2011-05-21 [Veltzeh]: Oh yeah. :o How many items could I get from that piece? Or does it come directly from the weight so that I could have any item that weighs 1 out of that piece?

2011-05-21 [Duredhel]: exactly :> You need the weight of the item you want to make in Chitin.

2011-05-21 [Veltzeh]: Are the jewels in the expendables still a go? Sticking a ruby in the fan is starting to feel like a good idea. :D

2011-05-21 [Duredhel]: Yeah, you can still graft jewels on stuff. I might have to re-examine what they do tho.

2011-06-24 [Veltzeh]: Gimme level 5 Disable and one STR, please. :o
